Lessons follow ES Challenge, Learner Focus, Know Your Impact ethos. Teachers blend guided input, exam practice, and visible learning routines that promote self-awareness and independence.

Students build academic literacy, critical thinking, and study strategies essential for higher education, achieving exam readiness and transferable university skills.

Our IELTS course is designed for motivated learners aiming for university entry or international mobility, typically at B1+–C1 CEFR levels. Students are goal-oriented, academically focused, and ready to engage in high-intensity study.

The course develops the four IELTS skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking lessons integrate exam skills with real-world communication and learner autonomy, as well as grammar, lexis, pronunciation, and study skills.
The IELTS course provides students with practice in all key tested areas, with all types of questions and texts. Students are also taught a wide variety of topic vocabulary to enable them to have a well-rounded understanding of IELTS and development of exam skills, which would allow them to take an IELTS exam successfully.
IELTS is not a course to improve general English proficiency. Instead, the goal is to focus on exam skills and strategy, using appropriate academic language. Students in London generally see IELTS as a path towards an undergraduate or a postgraduate course, meaning that the focus will be on Academic IELTS. This is a 12-week course, so we expect students to be within 0.5-1 band of their desired IELTS score in General English before joining the IELTS course.
IELTS is designed to benefit from being taken with the General English course, which students would attend in the morning, or as a course tagged onto General English once students are at or close to the required level.
Entry into our IELTS class is at level B1+, which falls at around 4.5 – 5 on the IELTS band.
In the UK, foundation programmes usually require an IELTS score of 4.5 for entry. Undergraduate programmes start at a requirement of 5.5 (B2) for entry into courses that do not require strong linguistic skills. However, depending on the university and the area of study, IELTS requirements vary greatly. For example, Cambridge University requires a minimum of 7 (C1) for any skill, while subjects like medicine and engineering can require a minimum of 7.5 in many universities.
Masters level programmes usually require a minimum score of 6.5 (B2/C1 border), although again this depends on the university and programme of study.
The IELTS qualification is recognised worldwide and demonstrates your ability to communicate effectively in English for further study, work, and migration. Our IELTS Preparation course equips you with the confidence and techniques to perform at your best in each section of the test.
