One important thing to understand is London’s healthcare system, so you can stay healthy throughout your time here. This blog will guide you through London’s healthcare system with tips and advice to help you navigate it smoothly.

The National Health Service (NHS): Your Healthcare Buddy in London

London’s healthcare system is mainly run by the National Health Service (NHS). It’s a publicly funded system that offers varied medical services to residents, including students like you. Here’s how it works:

  1. International Students and the NHS: As an international student, you’re generally eligible for NHS services if you’re studying in the UK for more than six months. Your visa application will include a charge called the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS). This fee grants you access to NHS services during your stay.
  2. GPs: Your GP, or General Practitioner, is your first point of contact for most health concerns. Whether you have a cold, need a check-up, or need a prescription, your GP is there to help.
