This blog will guide you through London’s healthcare system with tips and advice to help you navigate it smoothly.

The National Health Service (NHS): Your Healthcare Buddy in London

London’s healthcare system is mainly run by the National Health Service (NHS). It’s a publicly funded system that offers varied medical services to residents, including students like you. Here’s how it works:

International Students and the NHS: As an international student, you’re generally eligible for NHS services if you’re studying in the UK for more than six months. Your visa application will include a charge called the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS). This fee grants you access to NHS services during your stay.
GPs: Your GP, or General Practitioner, is your first point of contact for most health concerns. Whether you have a cold, need a check-up, or need a prescription, your GP is there to help.
