Our General English course is structured in different levels to cater to learners with varying proficiency levels. Each level focuses on specific language skills, vocabulary, and grammar rules to help students develop their language skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. These courses are divided into different levels based on the student’s proficiency level in the language. In this blog post, we will discuss the different levels of General English courses and what each level entails.

Here’s a breakdown of the different levels of General English courses:

Beginner (A1) | IELTS 1.0 - 2.5

This is the starting level for learners who have little or no knowledge of the English language. It focuses on basic vocabulary and grammar rules, including sentence structure, verb tenses, and pronouns. They will also learn common phrases and expressions for daily use. For example, students at this level might learn how to introduce themselves, ask for directions, or order food at a restaurant.

Elementary (A2) | IELTS 3.0 - 3.5

At this level, students will learn to communicate in simple and basic English. This level is for learners who can understand and use basic English phrases and expressions. It builds on the vocabulary and grammar learned  at the beginner level and students will be able to construct more complex sentences. For example, students might learn how to describe their daily routine or talk about their hobbies and interests in proper sentences and include topics such as work, leisure, travel, and family.

Intermediate (B1) | IELTS 4.0 - 4.5

This General English level focuses on making students hold a conversation in English and understand more complex sentences. It covers topics such as expressing opinions, discussing current events, and giving presentations confidently. Students will also learn more advanced grammar and vocabulary, and will be able to read and understand more complex texts. For example, students at this level might learn how to discuss current events or write a simple essay. This level covers advanced topics, including current affairs, culture, health, and the environment. technology, art, and science etc.

Upper intermediate (B2) IELTS 5.0 - 6.0

This level is for learners who are comfortable with using English in various situations, both professionally and socially. It focuses on developing fluency and accuracy in communication, including advanced grammar and vocabulary. Students will also learn to understand more complex spoken English and read more challenging texts by learning more sophisticated and specialised words, idiomatic expressions, phrasal verbs, and collocations. They will delve into a diverse array of topics, such as philosophy, economics, psychology, and global issues. For example, students at this level might learn how to make a persuasive argument or write a formal letter.

Advanced (C1) | IELTS 6.5 - 8.0

In this level, the students will have a near-native level of proficiency in English. It focuses on refining general English skills and perfecting fluency in conversation, writing, and presentation. Students will also learn to use English in more professional contexts, such as in business or academia, and be able to participate in and lead discussions, debates, and presentations effectively, as well as write well-structured, persuasive, and sophisticated essays, reports, and proposals. For example, students at this level might learn how to give a formal presentation or write a research paper.

Proficient (C2) | IELTS 8.5 - 9.0

A C2 Proficient level English student achieves a near-native proficiency, allowing them to communicate effectively and accurately across diverse contexts. They will master an extensive range of sophisticated vocabulary, complex grammar, and near-native pronunciation. Their listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills will be highly advanced, enabling them to understand and produce complex ideas and arguments, while also demonstrating a deep cultural awareness of English-speaking cultures. Finally, C2 learners will be capable of independent learning, employing strategies for self-assessment, critical thinking, and continuous language skill refinement.
